MEF University is a private, non-profit university in Istanbul. It was founded by the İbrahim Arıkan Education and Scientific Research Foundation. The university began its educational activities in the 2014–2015 academic year.

Education System at MEF University
The university has adopted an advanced educational system known as Flipped Learning, which differs from the traditional education system.
In the traditional education system, academic staff are responsible for delivering information to students in the classroom, while students attend lectures and try to understand the material. In the Flipped Learning model, information is delivered through lecture videos and articles prepared by academic staff, as well as supporting materials such as Excel and PDF documents, visual materials, images, and PowerPoint presentations. Students review the texts and course materials at their own pace before the topics are discussed in class, take notes, and prepare questions about subjects they do not fully understand.
Before the class begins, students submit their questions to the instructor. During the first part of the lesson, students are then divided into groups based on the nature of their questions. They work together to find answers to their questions. The instructor monitors the groups and helps them reach the answers.
During the second part of the lesson, the instructor encourages students to find answers to questions that have not yet been resolved, facilitating the learning process. The instructor also asks questions to check whether students understand the subject and has them work in teams to solve problems related to the practical or applied aspects of the topic.
This model allows students to move from the role of “information recipients” to the role of “learners who discover knowledge and reach conclusions.”
